We have seen male grave diggers in real life. How about a woman? This is not a part of their job. In ‘Shubra’ the female protagonist not only dig grave but lives in burial ground for her living. She faces troubles in life to the peak after her mother demise. The film stars Tanmayi Kashyap in the prominent role. Director B Ramamurthy in his 60th film of 26 years service from ‘Rudra Thandava’ prepared this script long ago. After writing such a thought on paper he found one woman doing the same profession in real life.


B Ramamurthy lauded actress Tanmayi for performing in the real locations of Madhugiri graveyard. It is after shoot of this film she came to my house as ‘Sose’ marrying my son Akshay disclosed B Ramurthy. I have done formula films, off beat films and given new thought to subject in various films. Some of them have really clicked and a few have failed he admits.


The purpose of this film filled with various social issues is that one can live in any place for living. A female finding such situation is a rare thought he feels. B Ramamurthy as director was like ‘Money Back Policy’ scheme to the producers. This time for his friends from judiciary – Murthy VN, SS Patil, Manjunath Gowda and recently demised Balramaiah produced this film.


Rajesh Shastry music director one montage song and background score is also relative (B Ramurthy is Sodaramava) making debut. Tanmayi is in lead role with mother character played by Suchitra, Mahipal Reddy (former KSP head of Gulbarga) Srinath Vasishta, Arun (grandson of actress Juli Lakshmi – Lakshmi elder sister Vijalakshmi is his grandmother) and others are in the cast.

Mahipal Reddy present at the media stated that this kind of cinema is very rare to find. He plays Swamiji role in the film.


Suchitra in the mother role says it is not the clean – Shubra clothes what we wear is important. ‘Shubra’ mind and body is important. This film is in that direction she observes.

SS Patil explaining the different contents of the film remarked that it shows a woman is strong. VN Murthy joint producer is hoping for a few awards to mother and daughter role in this film.
